Esther is the owner of Mystiek, a horse she bred herself. Mystiek is now 7 years old, and her story began at birth.
“She was positioned wrong, and the delivery was heavy. Because of that, she suffered some damage. The problems were complex: stomach and intestinal issues, exhaustion, and repeated setbacks. Mystiek is not yet under saddle. It has been a long journey just to get her on her feet. Just when she started to improve a little, she got sick with Lyme disease. Searching for a cause
At first, Esther consulted the vet. “Blood was drawn, but nothing came out of it. They said it was probably just a little virus. But I didn’t believe that, it was lasting far too long.” Only a year and a half after the first symptoms did she find, through an alternative route, the diagnosis of Lyme. “We treated her for it. But I didn’t get cheerful Mystiek back with that.”
